Additional Specialized Tests

Our staff can perform a number of specialized tests to provide our patients with the answers they need.

Electromyography (EMG)

An EMG measures your muscles’ responses to electrical nerve stimulation. In practice, this allows medical professionals to test for a wide range of neuromuscular diseases, nerve injuries, motor control problems, and other degenerative conditions.

During an EMG, a small needle used to measure electrical activity is inserted into the muscle. Then you can contract and rest the affected area as the data is collected.

Urinalysis

Urinalysis involves analyzing a urine sample to check its appearance, contents, and concentration. This test can be used to detect countless illnesses, including urinary tract infections, kidney stones, diabetes, and kidney disease.

You can drink one or two extra glasses of water on the day of your test. Excessive hydration, meaning anything beyond that point, can make the test less accurate.
